Limited Edition 『인간선언 𝐻𝑜𝑚𝑜 𝑑𝑢𝑑𝑢𝑟𝑖』 Book Talk

Each year, a special limited edition publication is created in response to the theme of the Seoul International Book Fair 2026. This year’s Limited Edition 『인간선언 𝐻𝑜𝑚𝑜 𝑑𝑢𝑑𝑢𝑟𝑖』, brings together 11 writers who respond to the 2026 theme, <인간선언: 𝐻𝑜𝑚𝑜 𝑑𝑢𝑑𝑢𝑟𝑖>, through fiction, poetry, and essays. Amid a world shaped by conflict, war, and the coexistence of artificial intelligence as a new form of being, the book revisits the fundamental question: What does it mean to be human? Inspired by 𝑑𝑢𝑑𝑢𝑟𝑖, the blacksmith figure from mythology, it explores humanity as a being that, despite its imperfections and limitations, continues endlessly to forge something new. Join four of the contributing authors for a conversation that proposes a new “declaration of humanity” for our time.

The selected books present familiar worlds in surprising new ways, creating unexpected pleasures for readers. The Sentences We Could Not Write

After becoming mothers, many women writers find their identities as “writers” profoundly shaken. Amid the demands of caring for children and family, writing is often pushed aside. Only late at night, after everyone has fallen asleep, do they finally return to themselves—yet many nights end with them falling asleep exhausted, unable to write even a single sentence. This book talk is about those very moments. Novelist Kim Yi-seol, novelist Kim Mi-wol, and poet Cho Hye-eun, joined by literary critic Kim Na-young, will engage in a thoughtful conversation on women’s creative labor, caregiving, lost time, and the ongoing struggle to continue writing and living.

This is a healing journey of self-acceptance, where the book’s message comes to life through both words and art. We shift the gaze from seeing trauma as something to "get over," to seeing it as a natural part of our story. Come and rediscover the deeper meaning of the work through the author’s own voice and the creative process of drawing.

Writing to Make a Place for the Body

Kim Ji-seung is a writer and independent scholar whose work has explored the relationships that minority bodies form with the world while making a place for “feminine writing/reading.” In this lecture, Kim reflects on what came after Beast Diary—a pivotal work that marked a turning point in her practice and had already laid claim to the modes of thought and form that would later unfold across multiple artistic media. Bodies that can survive only through deliberate misreading. Bodies that fall outside the norm and have no place to belong. Bodies pressured into silence or laughter. This is a talk about writing that asks what it means to make a place for such bodies. Writing that makes a place for a body and its language to take the position of the subject amid spaces and ruptures. A session that shows how placing a body and its language in that position may be one of the most radical things literature can do.
